Edet100 Placement Overview
Explore the highlights and key takeaways from my EDET100 placement, a crucial step in developing my skills as a future Early Childhood Teacher

The Essence of EDET100 Placement
This practical component of EDET100 was essential to my development to further my studies and deepen my knowledge as an Educator and Pre-Service Teacher. Observing Mrs Tyla Bernardi a Bachelor Qualified, Primary and Early childhood Teacher.
Observations, lesson plan and learning experiences
I observed 8 focus children during my placement at mykindy, I used various observation styles, intentional teaching strategies and learning experiences. The 8 focus children ranged from ages, 3.5-5.5 years. 4 of my chosen students were girls and 4 were boys, 2 of the children are in their second Kindy year (Repeating kindy) and 2 are a set of twins at very different developmental stages, 1 will do another year of kindy as he is not school age, and 7 out of the 8 children have 6 months left of their kindy year before transitioning to school. Out of those 8 children, the 2 leaning experiences was slightly amended to suit the needs and learning abilities of the individual child/children.
Emerging Skills
I developed a greater understanding for my role as a Pre-Service Teacher, Educator and mentor. To support children in their overall learning and development. By creating lesson plans, facilitating learning experiences that allow children to learn, discover and develop. I believe all children have the capacity to achieve greatness, when supported by passionate teachers. That support to extend on their own learning, interests and explore their environment. This fosters a sense of agency and independence, in result, building a positive self-identity in young children. This accentuates that children need to feel safe, secure, and supported to develop confidence and explore the world around them (AGDE, 2022). Which is in the hands of Early childhood Teachers, which is why I embarked on this journey.
Overcoming Challenges
To push outside of my comfort zone. Communicate openly, try new teaching strategies and techniques and observe different teaching styles. To remain optimistic and have an open mind throughout challenges. Use reflections and critical evaluations to progress my personal development and pedagogy.
