I would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land the Gubbi Gubbi/ Kabi Kabi peoples and pay my respect to the Elder’s past, present and emerging. I recognise their continuing connection to country and the important knowledge they share with future generations. I remain dedicated to embedding respectful, inclusive, and culturally responsive practices within my early childhood education journey.

My Personal Statement

As a pre-service early childhood teacher, I believe ongoing reflection and professional development are essential to growing as a practitioner. Consistent with Standard 6 of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST), I recognise that engaging in continuous professional learning strengthens not only my own practice but also the learning and wellbeing of the children and families I work with (AITSL, 2011). This unit has broadened my understanding and competence of teaching strategies, deepened my understanding through collaborative learning, and introduced me to a range of reputable resources that I will continue to draw on in my professional practice. Throughout this Research Portfolio, I have reflected on my personal experiences, beliefs and values, examining them through multiple perspectives and the unit readings. This process has supported me to critically analyse the APST and unit topics, identify my strengths and areas for growth, and articulate my developing professional identity with authenticity.

I am grateful for the opportunity to develop my practice and look forward to applying these learnings as a future early childhood teacher.
