Understanding the legislation and policy that govern kindergartens is essential to working safely, ethically and professionally. The Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, the NQS and approved learning frameworks, including the EYLF V2.0 and, in Queensland, the kindergarten learning guideline, establish the requirements that shape my daily practice (ACECQA, n.d.). Waniganayake et al. (2024) show how leaders translate these requirements into service policies and procedures. Moss (2019) encourages me to think critically about dominant narratives of quality so that compliance supports pedagogy rather than overshadowing it. I selected the ACECQA Guide to the National Quality Framework because it explains the law, regulations and NQS in one practical reference (Figure 13). This resource helps me meet my obligations confidently while keeping children's learning and wellbeing at the centre.
