Evaluating my program and consistently reflecting is how I make sure intentional teaching translates into genuine learning for children. The EYLF V2.0 positions critical reflection and the planning cycle as central to quality practice (Australian Government Department of Education, 2022), and Arthur et al. (2021) show how documentation and assessment inform the next steps in planning. I selected the Australian Children's Education & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) Quality Improvement Plan template (ACECQA, 2026) because it structures self-assessment against the NQS and can include the voices of children, families and colleagues (Figure 5). This resource will support me to evaluate the current educational program and practice systematically and turn reflection into action. Togher and Fenech (2020) found that services working towards the NQS improved most where leaders built a shared understanding of quality and a culture of ongoing reflection. This finding reminds me that evaluation works best as a collaborative team process.
